Sofia, which is located in the western part of

Bulgaria, is the capital and largest city in

Sofia

1. The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is one of the leading and biggest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world. This is one of the tourist attractions that
   Sofia is very proud of. The cathedral is a cross arched basilica including an accentuated central dome. In 1924, the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was declared a monument symbol of culture. Close to the cathedral is a small flea market that sells handmade textiles and antiques.

 

2. Sofia Synagogue is the largest Jewish house of worship in Southeastern Europe. Located in the extreme city center, the synagogue is one of
   Sofia’s most important architectural monuments. This house of worship is so huge that it can accommodate 1,300 worshippers. The Sofia Synagogue also contains the Jewish Museum of History and a souvenir shop for those who want to buy mementos of the
   Sofia synagogue.

 

3. The National Historical Museum is largest museum in
   Bulgaria. The museum located in
   Sofia keeps storage of over 650,000 items related to history, fine arts, ethnography, and archeology. But not all of these historical items are exhibited in the museum, for safekeeping purposes only 10 percent of all the items are subject to exhibition.

 

4. Vitosha
   Mountain lying in the outer edge or
   Sofia suburbs is one of the tourist attractions and symbol of
   Sofia. The place is a perfect site for hiking, snow skiing, and mountain activities like trekking and mountain climbing. Vitosha is the oldest national park in the region of
   Eastern
   Europe.

 

5. Central Mineral Baths or the Sofia Public Mineral Baths is an attraction in the center of
   Sofia. From the time of its construction in the 20th century until 1986, the Sofia Public Mineral Bath was utilized as the city’s public bath.

 

6. Central Sophia Market Hall is a covered market in the heart of
   Sofia. Plainly called ‘The Market Hall” situated along

Marie Louise Boulevard

, it now considered as essential industry center in the city of

Sofia. 

7. The Monument to Vasil Levski was built to memorialize the execution of the national hero and radical figure Vasil Levski on February 18, 1873 in the city of
   Sofia.
