Primary structures located in the temple are the Altar of Prayer for Good Harvest, where emperors prayed for good harvest and the Circular Mound Altar that serves as sacrificial rites place during winter.

The Imperial Vault of Heaven, the Hall of Abstinence, and several smaller halls are some of the auxiliary buildings situated in the Temple of Heaven.
